The Great Resignation, a phenomenon that shocked the world during the pandemic but also led to some impactful shifts. In this post we will not bore you with what the movement entailed and what we predict for this year. We do acknowledge that most of our readers are job seekers. Therefore we want to share some key messages that we hope will give hope in 2022.

The movement of resignation saw millions quit their job at the drop of a hat. Of course, not everyone is privileged enough to do so, and the question is should not everyone have the option of a job that makes them happy? The millions who quit caused a shift and new patterns that perhaps some of us could only dream of doing. As a result there has been an increase in self employment, freelancing and sector shifts. Lots of people traded higher pays for the little joys in life such as spending more time with family or saving a traffic ridden drive to work. Lots of people questioned what they worked for and did not want to prolong happiness anymore. The pandemic was stressful enough on humanity and lots of people questioned the need of their jobs to add to the stress.

However, these new patterns and shifts, were not met with a job market that had adapted to these needs and wants. Truth being told, these were not necessarily new needs and wants. They were suppressed at the cost of many things. This year however, calls for companies to relook the way they work and expect people to work.  We want to ask, are you really listening to the people who work for you?

A drastic change such as the Great Resignation calls for the need to gather insights. This involves digging deep into what are people looking for when they want to get back to work. This is the perfect time for companies to sit down and talk to their employees or rather ex-employees.

As a job portal focused on sustainability, we believe that we want to shape ourselves to help job seekers through the Great Reshuffle. While we have strived over the past year to deliver jobs from companies who are making a difference, we believe we have a long way to go. We also know that we need to change with the changing job landscape. Our mission is to still find jobs that allow people to make an impact and feel a sense of well being to do so. In 2022, this is what we vision to help our followers and job seekers in Sweden with. On this note, we asked our founder Kristina Bohnerth what her key message would be as a result of the Great Resignation and companies who now have the ball in their court –

“It’s time to balance out the power struggle between employer and employee. Employers must see the workforce as an asset and investment that is human, with values and potential. Pay attention to retention. Employees deserve to be treated better. The solution is simple: be observant, listen to your people and meet their needs.”

Jobseekers, stay strong, while the job landscape changes, there are some companies who are actually listening to their employees needs and wants. There are even some companies who are already offering what you need!

In 2022, we hope that there will be more jobs that meet our needs and wants. Let’s make it an impactful year! //Divya
